Originair has touched down in Taupō
The inaugural Originair direct flight from Wellington received a warm Taupō District welcome at Taupō Airport this afternoon.
Mayor David Trewavas and councillors were on hand to greet the first flight and the Mayor says the direct service is great news for visitors and locals alike.
“This doesn’t just connect us with the capital, it also links us through to the South Island and means we can welcome more visitors to our little piece of paradise. It means Wellington and Nelson and the like are just a short flight away and I urge everyone to show Originair support.”
Originair’s Head of Marketing Rachel Moffat says the airline will initially be flying the Taupō-Wellington route three time a week.
“We're thrilled to be part of this wonderful community and look forward to offering a sustainable schedule that can cater to both business and leisure travelers. As demand grows, we're excited to adjust our schedule to best meet the needs of our passengers, all while delivering an exceptional service.”
Originair are using a 18-seat British Aerospace twin-turbo prop Jetstream aircraft on the Taupō-Wellington route, with flights operating initially on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
