Water restrictions lifted
Water restrictions put in place in Taupō, Waitahanui, Kinloch and Wairākei over the busy summer period have now been lifted.
These areas moved to level one water restrictions in January as demand for water increased and at a time when there had been little or no rain.
With autumn temperatures starting to kick in and rain becoming more common, demand for water has reduced and level one water restrictions are no longer required.
We really appreciate that everyone responded to the water restrictions, only using sprinklers every second day. Reducing water use makes a big difference to our water treatment plants that can only treat a certain amount of water each day.
While restrictions are no longer in place, we want to remind people to continue to be mindful of their water use and use sprinklers and water systems responsibly.
