Upgrade for Poihipi Road and Whangamata Road intersection

Work will start this coming Monday 17 March to help make the Poihipi Road and Whangamata Road intersection safer for all users.

The left turning lane on Poihipi Road will be realigned and moved further to the left, adding some separation between the turning lane and the road that continues straight ahead.

Our contractors, WM Construction, will be carrying out the work which is expected to take about two weeks. During the works the speed limit in the area will be reduced, and at times the team will use stop-go traffic management, to ensure the safety of workers onsite.

While there is some extra traffic on the road with a NZ Transport Agency detour in effect, it’s important that we complete this work now while we still have the warmer temperatures needed for doing road works.
