While not on the scale of the recent world event, the 2025 ANZCO Foods IRONMAN New Zealand will be a massive highlight for the district.
The event gives our community another opportunity to get out and support these amazing athletes, showing why Taupō was ranked one of the friendliest cities in the universe!
To keep everyone safe, there will be roads closed and speed restrictions from Thursday 27 February to Sunday 2 March. See below for key information, and check out the maps and full list of closures further below.
- The event village and finish line are situated on Tongariro North Domain. Get down and cheer on the athletes.
- Broadlands Road will be closed on Saturday 1 March from 6am to 6.30pm and so will our Broadlands Road Landfill and Resource Recovery Centre. The East Taupō Arterial (ETA) Broadlands Road Off-ramp (off-ramp only) will be closed 6am to 6pm Saturday 1 March.
- Tongariro Street Bus Stop will be closed so buses will temporarily operate from Pāora Hapi Street from Saturday 1 March 2am to Sunday 2 March 2.30am.
- Taupō Boat Harbour and Marina are open with access via Redoubt Street.
