Bridge down to one lane on 17 November
Traffic flow on Control Gates Bridge will be reduced to one lane, with stop/go management in place, overnight from 8pm on Wednesday, 17 November to 5am on Thursday, 18 November.
The closure is to allow contractors to install a new water pipe beneath Control Gates Bridge as part of the project to connect Acacia Bay and Mapara residents to the Taupō town water supply.
This connection will provide Acacia Bay and Mapara residents with access to water that meets with Drinking Water Standards New Zealand, and it will also help to improve the resilience of the overall network.
The project has involved upgrading the Nukuhau pump station, installing a new pipeline along the Acacia Bay straight from Nukuhau to Acacia Bay, and upgrading several large water mains. The work on Acacia Bay Road also presented the opportunity to upgrade the footpath there to a wider, shared-use pathway at the same time.
Please drive safely and follow the guidance of our traffic management team during the lane reduction.
