Work starts on south end of Tongariro Street
With the bus stop back in place, the shared pathway done and just one section of kerbing still to be poured near the Superloo, work on the northern half of Tongariro Street is drawing to a close.
It’s great to have this big chunk of our Taupō Town Centre Transformation done – and looking really good! Our team are now working on the southern end of Tongariro Street. They have already removed the centre islands and are prepping for kerbing and paving work. We’re also taking the opportunity to upgrade some of the stormwater and lighting infrastructure at the same time. Next week will be another big week with the team pouring the centre island and the new kerb in front of Cobb and Co.
From Monday we will be closing Tongariro Street between Tūwharetoa Street and Ferry Road to both north and south bound traffic for one week. There will be no access into or out of Ferry Road during this time which will allow our team to get work done quickly and safely. As always, please drive with care and follow the guidance of our traffic management team. Thanks for your patience everybody.
And last but by no means least, look out for lots of landscaping work in the newly-constructed garden beds next week. We can’t wait to see all the new planting in place!
