Wairakei Drive detour
Construction of the new roundabout on Wairākei Drive will see a detour in place from Thursday 14 March so to allow Camex Civil to get the work done as quickly and safely as possible.
The detour takes you via Huka Falls Road/Karetoto Road. On your way in or out of town, you can still access Huka Falls, Craters of the Moon, and all the other attractions in the area.
⚠️The detour will only be in place on weekdays from 7am to 6pm
⚠️ Weather permitting, we hope to be finished by about the end of May
⚠️ Karapiti Road is open at all times, however, it may be operating under Stop/Go management.
Please allow yourself extra travel time or consider alternative routes. Follow the marked detour signage and directions. Be kind, go slow, and spare a thought for the team who are out there rain or shine, making our roads safer.
