Anzac Day services and parades
This Anzac Day, we reflect on the sacrifices made by those in our armed forces who have served overseas. Everyone is invited to attend services and parades being held throughout the Taupō district on Thursday 25 April 2024 as follows:
TAUPŌ
- 6am: Taupō Dawn Service - Taupō Cenotaph, Great Lake Centre
All veterans, past and present service personnel, local youth groups & other community members that are wishing to take part in the parade, report to the parade marshal: Warrant Officer Class Two [WO2] Lawrence Colvin, Army Command School at 5.40am, at the rear carpark of the Great Lake Centre. Parade steps off 5.50am. Full service dress equivalent (including medals) to be worn.
- 9am: Taupō Cemetery Service - Taupō Services Cemetery, Rickit Street
- 10.30am Taupō Civic Service - Taupō Cenotaph, Great Lake Centre
All veterans, past and present service personnel, local youth groups & other community members that are wishing to take part in the parade, report to the parade marshal: Master Air Loadmaster [M/ALM] (Rtd) Donald Kerr, RNZAF, at 10.15am, at the rear carpark of the Great Lake Centre. Parade steps off 10.25am. Full service dress equivalent (including medals) to be worn.
SOUTHERN LAKE TAUPŌ
- 6am: Waihi Civic Service - Waihi Marae, Waihi Village
- 10.30am Tūrangi Cemetery Service: Tūrangi Services Cemetery, Aonini Road.
- 11am: Tūrangi Civic Service - Tokaanu-Tūrangi and Districts RSA*
- 5pm: Sunset Service - Omori Kuratau Community Hall, 220 Omori Road, Omori.
*All veterans, past and present service personnel, local youth groups & other community members that are wishing to take part in the parade, report to the parade marshal in Tūrangi town centre, to march to the Tokaanu-Tūrangi and Districts RSA for an 11am service.
MANGAKINO
- 10am: Mangakino Cemetery Service - Mangakino Services Cemetery, Lake Road.
- 11am: Mangakino Civic Service - Mangakino District Services and Citizens Club, Wairenga Road.
