The requirements and definitions for keeping other animals within the Taupō District are identified in our Animal Bylaw 2021.

Our bylaw outlines the following:
- pigs, roosters and peacocks are not permitted within residential areas.
- any other animals are to be kept in a well-constructed and adequately maintained facility to ensure the health and safety of people, as well as animals.
- any other animals must not cause a nuisance to the public including noise or odour.
- breaches of this bylaw may result in enforcement action.
Any complaints received in relation to the keeping of other animals will be investigated by our compliance team.
