Acacia Bay joining Taupō water scheme
Project overview
Work is underway to connect Acacia Bay and Mapara residents to the Taupō water supply.
This connection will provide Acacia Bay and Mapara residents with access to water that meets with Drinking Water Standards New Zealand, and it will also help to improve the resilience of the network.
The project will involve upgrading the Nukuhau pump station, installing a new pipeline along the Acacia Bay straight from Nukuhau to Acacia Bay, and upgrading several large water mains. We will also take the opportunity provided by laying the new pipe work to upgrade the pathway along Acacia Bay Road to a wider, shared-use path. We will be creating a temporary pathway on the other side of Acacia Bay Road while we upgrade the current footpath.
There may be some localised water shutdowns while the new water mains are being installed, however we will ensure any affected residents are contacted directly.
The work is being carried out by Camex Civil contractors on behalf of council, with construction scheduled to be complete by October 2021.
