Development contributions are charged on new developments to help fund the necessary infrastructure, facilities and reserves to support growth in our district.
We charge development contributions on developments such as new houses, commercial developments and subdivisions. These contributions help to fund new or upgraded infrastructure for water, wastewater, transport network, community facilities and reserves.
During the processing of your building consent or resource consent application, in particular subdivision applications, we undertake an assessment to work out the amount you need to pay. The fees are calculated based on the type of your development, the location and the number of household equivalent units (HEUs) created by the development.
Our Development Contributions Policy provides information on when development contributions are required and how they are assessed and calculated.
