Things to know before you apply
Eligibility
Along with meeting the eligibility requirements of the Creative Communities Scheme, organisations must also adhere to these guidelines to be eligible for the Festivals Funding:
- The festival must celebrate the life experiences, stories, cultures and regional identities of New Zealanders.
- A festival is classed as an integrated programme of events and activities featuring one or more artforms, from any cultural tradition, that takes place within a defined area or region over a designated period of time.
- An established festival is one that has been delivered at least once in the previous five years (this may include digital presentation).
- CCS Festivals Funds can support eligible festivals
that are delivered within 12 months of the grant notification
Application process
To apply for the Creative Communities Festival Fund, please complete the Creative Communities Scheme application form. There will be an option on this application to indicate that you wish to be considered for the festivals grant.
There is no maximum amount a single festival can apply for, however most applications are under $2,000.

Things to know after you apply
Confirmation and decision
- After submitting your online application for funding, you'll receive an automated email to confirm your application has been received.
- Within one month of the closing date for applications, you’ll get an email to let you know the outcome of your application.
- If your application is successful, payment will be made to the nominated bank account from your application - you can now get started on your project!
